I am not the facts

not the policies

I’m neither expert nor example

I’m not the doer of deeds

be they great or small

I am instead the argument

I stand outside all creeds

I speak by doing nothing

to embroil me in the world’s endeavors

to sort out who’s in charge

or who is wrong or who is right

or who is godly and who is not

or even posit whatever godly means

I am nothing that anybody really needs

because I have chosen not to serve

And yet I’m anybody’s champion

full of time, full of space, full of understanding

I am the argument, pure and simple
