New Poets Wednesday -If You Can't Take the Heat Pamela Ashmen

Pamela Ashmen is an undergraduate student from southern New Jersey, pursuing her degree remotely from Post University, Waterbury, CT.

A perfectionist at life determined to excel Likened to Achilles with only a fault Despite constant tradition and enduring nightly rituals Still plagued constantly by clouds of fine gray particles hanging ever so gently above. The animals wail in terror Shrieking is heard from all the living Single strikes of pain one by one down the spine through entrance of an ear For I have never mastered the art of cooking Only the activation of the anti-melody owned by the condescending beast That smiles down from the ceiling Screaming that I have failed again.
