LONGING HEART A Sonnet by Shane Beck
A lonely heart longs for love;
A companion that will stay,
Days pass, as kindling glow burning in a wood stove
His youth fades away.
Each waking morning, he puts on a smile;
Memories of his life flood his mind with every passing mile,
the overwhelming thoughts make each day worth living,
although, within his mind, he resides on an isle
All these years alone, yet he will not lose faith
For he knows he will find a companion that will stayeth
She too is waiting for the dayeth
When the man she will come to love will sayeth.
Many nights alone I have spent, waiting for you to arrive
May I take your hand, and ask for you to be my bride
